Overview

The Challenge
Create an iconic structure that blends heritage and modern  technology  aligned with the Green Riyadh Initiative and Vision 2030.
The Opportunity
How might we transform the traditional "arrival experience" into a narrative journey that shifts the global perception of Riyadh from a historical center to a global innovation hub?
The Impact
By treating the 'internal space' as a physical interface, LUMINARE manages the transition from Riyadh’s traditional street-level vernacular to a high-tech interiority.

By curating the atmospheric qualities of the internal space, the design transforms a passive transit point into an active touchpoint that embodies Riyadh’s brand promise of relentless innovation.

Future Horizons

Modular Cloud System

Moving from a singular landmark to a modular infrastructure. The 'Cloud' system can be adapted for shaded transit nodes, public cooling stations, and 'Green Riyadh' pavilions, creating a cohesive visual identity for the city.
AI Mediated Experiences

Integrating environmental sensors and AI-driven lighting to make the gateway responsive to real-time city data . The gateway becomes a living dashboard for the city’s progress, not just a static monument.
Interactive Archive

Evolving the curated internal space into an interactive archive. Using AR or projection mapping, citizens can contribute their own 'visions' of 2030 to the gateway.
